About Western Swing: Right or Wrong:
Western Swing began in Texas in the 1930’s, bringing together elements of old-time country music and jazz, creating an exciting hybrid full of challenge and opportunity for the fiddler. In this lesson, Chris will introduce some of the techniques which transform a simple tune into a supercharged vehicle for expression and improvisation. We will use the classic “Right or Wrong”, and apply Texas-style ornamentation, drones, shuffles and swing, and apply some classic western swing hot licks in the style of Johnny Gimble and Vassar Clements.
