Guitar Bar/Barre Chords Tip #1 – Quick Practice Tip

Teacher: Steve Eulberg

About Guitar Bar/Barre Chords Tip #1 – Quick Practice Tip:

Hi, this is Steve Eulberg from myTalentForge with a Quick Tip for your day!

A lot of times people are trying to play their barre chords, and they’re having trouble playing the F chord because you’ve got to push against the strings right close to the nut.

So my suggestion is to go to the 5th fret, and play your barre chords there. Play your E shape barre chords, your A shape barre chords around the 5th fret.

The reason I’m choosing the 5th fret is because the frets are closer together [here] than they are down [here]. The strings are not as tight because they’re not fighting against the nut, and because when you raise your hand to the 5th fret, well that’s kind of where your hand wants to go anyway.

Get your fingers in good position, strum across, get a good sound, be clear, and play those chords with the 5th, 6th, and 7th fret.

When they start to become clearer, start working your way down to the 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st fret.

And now, once you get it good here, your F will start showing up for you!
