Don’t Skip the Scales – Quick Practice Tip

Teacher: Vi Wickam

About Don’t Skip the Scales – Quick Practice Tip:

Oh, hi!… I’m Vi Wickam and this is a myTalentForge Quick Tip of the Week!

You caught me red handed! Practicing my scales. You should be doing the same!

Don’t forget the scales! Scales matter, scales are important, scales help us isolate one of the most important elements of playing violin or any other instrument that doesn’t have frets.

Playing in tune matters. Playing in tune matters to all those around you, and it matters to you too.

So practice your scales. They don’t have to be all straight scales- we can do the […].

Arpeggios, scales, exercises- they matter. Don’t forget the scales!

I don’t care how advanced of a player you are, scales still matter. Playing in tune still matters.

Be mindful. Listen as you practice your scales. You will not regret it.

Your violin will love you for it, and you will love your violin even more because your music will be more beautiful.

So practice your scales, have a great week, and I’ll see you next time!

P.S. You might like the Simple Double Stop Scales lesson on My Talent Forge, as well as the Modal Violin Scales Series by Dr. David Wallace.
