Getting Started on my Talent Forge

Online Fiddle Lessons with Matthew Hartz and Vi "The Fiddler" WickamWelcome to [my] Talent Forge!

It is our goal to help you become an awesome musician.

Here are some important things to know on using this site:

  • Check out our Getting the Most out of My Talent Forge Series.
  • You can watch any video you want as many times as you want.
  • You can download the audio play along files and put them on your computer or phone so that you can play along with them even when you aren’t online. You can right click on the link (at the bottom of the lesson) and choose save as to save it to your computer.
  • You can do the same thing with the Sheet Music or Tablature.
  • Our lessons page is organized by instrument, degree of difficulty, and series. Series is a great place to start looking.
  • The Lessons menu also drills down by instrument and degree of difficulty.
  • There are tags at the bottom of the lessons page that can help you find lessons that have other common elements.
  • The search box in the right hand sidebar is a great way to find what you are looking for.
  • If you have a question that is specific to one of the lessons, post a comment on the lesson and one of our instructors will respond with an answer.
  • If you are having a technical problem, checkout our knowledge base articles.
  • If you can’t find the answer there, fill out our support form, and we will help you out ASAP.
  • If you have a question for one of the teachers, or would like us to critique your playing, go to the Ask a Teacher page, and fill out the form.

About Vi Wickam

Vi Wickam of Loveland, CO has been performing fiddle and writing music since before he could read. Along with his brothers and dad, The Wickam Family Band performed regularly on Blinky’s Fun Club, a nationally syndicated TV program.

Vi’s fiddling can be heard on numerous CD recordings, including two of his own. He’s played with many different bands throughout the United States, and even briefly in England.

Among his fiddling honors, Vi has won the Colorado State Championship twice, and been a finalist four times at the Grand Masters’ Fiddler Championship. He has judged fiddle contests throughout the US, and directed regional and state level fiddle contests.
